Hello Week #2 of Crochet Vintage
I do hope you had some fun with Week #1 the SUMMER Shells stitch pattern. I have so many ideas for how and where to use that lovely stitch - I never thought I would get on with this weeks stitch (I am so ever thankful I have a husband who helps me get back on track - and focus on "what's the next step?")
This week #2, we are continuing with our vintage 1970's stitch patterns and I am having just as much fun as last week.
This stitch is a crazy take on the V-st. The pattern gives the crochet fabric some "stretch" factor, not to mention how amazing it looks, when you start to change colours.
I suggest you first crochet the swatch in one colour to get a handle on the stitch pattern and then go crazy changing colours and have some fun!

I think this crazy v-st will definitely be my next project. I am thinking this would be a great stitch for crocheting a lovely little bag (something I need for summer). Oh yes, I have started making it already, I am using Wendy Supreme Luxury Cotton 4ply and I am REALLY LOVING THE RESULT! When it is finished I will post a blog about it, so keep your eye out for the update.
Give this stitch pattern a try, and let me know what you think about the crazy vee, and how and where you would use it.

Once again I am using soft cotton yarn by Bendigo Woollen Mills, (which is an Australian company, and they ship yarn all over the world), but you can use any DK or 8ply yarn you have to hand. I just happen to have loads of remnants left in my stash, so they are perfect for these little swatches.
Are you ready to join me? Let's play and have some Crochet Vintage fun!

ADD THIS PATTERN TO YOUR RAVELRY QUEUE AND FAVOURITES
PATTERN STARTS:
With MC, 4mm hook
Foundation Row: Ch33.
SPECIAL TIP: I use a 4.5mm hook for the foundation chain row then change to 4mm in last ch. This way my foundation chain does not end up tighter than the rest of the swatch.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook * ch2, skip 1ch, 1sc in next 3ch, rep from * to end, ending with 1sc in last 2ch. TURN
Row 2: Ch3, *(1dc, ch3, 1dc) in ch2-sp, rep from * to end, ending with 1dc in turning ch. TURN.
Row 3: Ch3, *3sc in ch3-sp, ch2, rep from * to end, ending with 1sc in turning ch. TURN
Row 4: Ch5, 1dc in first ch2-sp, *(1dc, ch3, 1dc) in next ch2-sp, rep from * to end, ending with (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in last ch2-sp. TURN.
Row 5: Ch1, 1sc in first ch2-sp, *ch2, 3sc in ch3-sp, rep from * to end, ending with ch2, 2sc in last ch2-sp. TURN
Continue the pattern - repeating Rows 2 to 5 for desired length.
CHANGING COLOUR
Change the look of the pattern stitch, by changing colour in every row or every other row or just use one (1) colour. Always your choice. Remember to turn work at end of each row.
