Here we go again! More Let's Play - Crochet Fun!
Hope you all enjoyed the free crochet patterns from my Let's Play - Crochet Fun (see bottom of page for links) which I ran for eight (8) weeks?
I've had a two (2) week break from blogging because I just had to finish a scarf I was knitting and I needed some well deserved me time (exploring and walking the countryside) which always gets the creative juices flowing. AND it has paid off too!
My next installment of LET'S PLAY, is here !
and over the next few weeks I will take you on a vintage ride back to the 1970's.
The stitch patterns I will be presenting here are my old time favourites from the 1970's when I first took to crochet, and as exciting as they were then, today I am going to update them a little! Using a little bit of modern colours and yarns and/or threads.
I am ever so grateful that today we have a huge range of yarns available to us, not only in various colours, but also in various thickness, with lovely pure wool, pure cotton, pure silk, bamboo and the like, as well as numerous blends of these natural fibers, which help make our crochet projects so much more fun to make and play with!
For this week's vintage crochet stitch pattern #1, I have used a soft cotton yarn by Bendigo Woollen Mills, (which is an Australian company, and they ship yarn all over the world), but you can use any DK or 8ply yarn you have to hand. I just happen to have loads of remnants left in my stash, so they are perfect for these little swatches.
Are you ready to join me? Let's play and have some Crochet Vintage fun!

ADD THIS PATTERN TO YOUR RAVELRY QUEUE AND FAVOURITES
PATTERN STARTS:
With MC, 4mm hook
Foundation Row: Ch33.
SPECIAL TIP: I use a 4.5mm hook for the foundation chain row then change to 4mm in last 3ch (which count as the first dc). This way my foundation chain does not end up tighter than the rest of the swatch.
Row 1: (1dc, ch3, 1dc) in 6th ch from hook, *skip 3ch, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next ch, skip 3ch, (1dc, ch3, 1dc) in next ch, rep from * to last 3ch, skip 2ch, 1dc in last ch. TURN.
Row 2: Ch3, *6tr in ch3-sp, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in ch1-sp, rep from * end, ending with 6tr in last ch3-sp, 1dc in top of ch5. TURN.
Following Row 3 and 4 form the pattern
Row 3: Ch3, *(1dc, ch3, 1dc) between 3rd and 4th tr of 6tr group, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in ch1-sp, rep from * to end, ending with (1dc, ch3, 1dc) between 3rd and 4th of last 6tr group, 1dc in top of ch3. TURN
Row 4: Ch3, *6tr in ch3-sp, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in ch1-sp, rep from * end, ending with 6tr in last ch3-sp, 1dc in top of ch3. TURN.
Continue pattern with Rows 3 and 4 for required length.
CHANGING COLOUR
To change colour in every row, fasten off at the end of each row. Join yarn at beginning of row with standing double crochet in place of ch3. Remember to turn work at end of each row.
