Baby Fern Scarf is an easy vintage lace knit pattern with the cast on edge lightly scalloped. I started to knit the scarf prior to our trip up north last week. Naturally, I took the knitting with me expecting to knit a bit during the evenings but somehow never even took the knitting out of my suitcase, obviously, I was too exhausted from our daily exploring of historic sites to contemplate any knitting in the evening. However, now I am back home and ready to finish this delightful little project and I thought it would be great to share this elegant lace pattern with you, thinking you may want to try it yourself.
I have estimated the length of the scarf based on remaining yarn weight, so when I finish the scarf it should be approx. 75in (190cm) in length. I will definitely post a photo of the finished scarf here and on Ravelry when it is done.
I decided to use this vintage baby fern stitch for my new knit scarf for this winter, and I thought it would be interesting to use a colour-changing yarn. I also wanted to experiment with new yarns I haven't tried before.

Hayfield Spirit DK is a lovely self-striping double knitting yarn, it comes in a range of amazing colourful shades, including mixes of beautiful neutrals and more vibrant ones too. I chose a lovely pinky, peachy, browny, grey colour because it reminded me of the autumn leaves, the colour on the label is Grace 404.
Hayfield Spirit DK is 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool and for those of you who prefer to machine wash your knit garments, this yarn is machine washable. Hayfield Spirit DK yarn comes in 100g balls so I am hoping I will be able to make this Baby Fern Scarf from just one (1) ball.
