LET'S PLAY - CROCHET VINTAGE - FREE PATTERN #1

free crochet patterns, vintage crochet, lets play, shells pattern

Here we go again!  More Let's Play - Crochet Fun!

Hope you all enjoyed the free crochet patterns from my Let's Play - Crochet Fun (see bottom of page for links) which I ran for eight (8) weeks?

I've had a two (2) week break from blogging because I just had to finish a scarf I was knitting and I needed some well deserved me time (exploring and walking the countryside) which always gets the creative juices flowing.  AND it has paid off too!

My next installment of LET'S PLAY, is here !
and over the next few weeks I will take you on a vintage ride back to the 1970's.

The stitch patterns I will be presenting here are my old time favourites from the 1970's when I first took to crochet, and as exciting as they were then, today I am going to update them a little!  Using a little bit of modern colours and yarns and/or threads.

I am ever so grateful that today we have a huge range of yarns available to us, not only in various colours, but also in various thickness, with lovely pure wool, pure cotton, pure silk, bamboo and the like, as well as numerous blends of these natural fibers, which help make our crochet projects so much more fun to make and play with!

For this week's vintage crochet stitch pattern #1, I have used a soft cotton yarn by Bendigo Woollen Mills, (which is an Australian company, and they ship yarn all over the world), but you can use any DK or 8ply yarn you have to hand.  I just happen to have loads of remnants left in my stash, so they are perfect for these little swatches.

Are you ready to join me?  Let's play and have some Crochet Vintage fun!

LET'S PLAY - CROCHET FUN - FREE PATTERN #8

free crochet patterns boho bracelet wrist cuffs

PART 3 OF SPRING Boho Bracelet

Week #8 of Let's Play - Crochet Fun

THIS WEEK #8

If you have been following this blog in the last few weeks, you will know that this week #8 is about the final stage of SPRING Boho Bracelet.  I mentioned previously that this bracelet design has three (3) parts -  Part 1 presented in Week #6 and Part 2 presented in Week #7 and Part 3 presented here today in Week #8.

Let me just say I wish all those mums out in the world who celebrated Mother's Day yesterday a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.  Personally I had a lovely weekend away, and I hope you all enjoyed your special day too!

Now, let's get on with Part 3 - Building on the last two free bracelet patterns we are going to add an extra round this week, with a slight change in round 3 as well.  This is a perfectly simple spring crochet project, and you can have lots of fun by changing colour as much as you like.  Of course we also end up with a wider bracelet or wrist cuff this week.

Boho Bracelet is perfectly suited for stash busting those odd bits of cotton threads and yarns lurking in the back of your yarn stash - I have made mine with remnants of mercerised cotton thread DMC Petra 5.

The DMC Petra mercerised cotton creates delicate looking crochet bracelets which are comfortably soft to wear, and at the same time very sturdy and durable, you can leave them on during bathing or swimming, absolutely perfect for summer holidays in the sun.

How did you go in week #6 and week #7? Did you enjoy making the two versions of Spring Boho Bracelet? If you did,  you are most welcome to share your creations with us here, below in the comments, or you can share on my CROCKNIT Facebook Page, I would love to see your crochet handwork, and I am always happy to answer any questions in regards to the patterns.

Make second disc:  Rep from * to ** of Rnd 1 and 2.  Hide ends.

Adjusting the size:
Make the bracelet, approx. 1in (2.5cm) shorter than wrist circumference, this allows for stretch factor of cotton yarn.  The drawstring helps adjust the size too.

This pattern = 10 loops in foundation row = measures 5in (12.5cm) to fit 6in (15cm) wrist.

To make larger increase number of loops in foundation row; for example -  12 loops = measures 6in (15cm).  For this pattern to work you need to have an even number of loops in your foundation row.
